Albayrak Beton has started construction on its fifth ready-mix concrete plant in Istanbul. Located in Çekmeköy, the Hüseyinli Ready-Mix Concrete Plant, with an investment amount of 18 million 924 thousand TRY, will produce for metro constructions, qualified residential projects, and infrastructure projects.
Serving a wide range of sectors from metro projects to public buildings, from infrastructure to qualified real estate projects, Albayrak Beton has initiated a new investment in a concrete plant. Due to the new zoning plans in the region, the plant is also expected to meet the concrete needs of ongoing and upcoming metro projects.
Providing information about the plant, which is being established in the Hüseyinli District of Çekmeköy on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, Erdal Albayrak, Chairman of the Board of Albayrak Beton, stated that the plant would produce class concrete and special concrete as part of R&D studies. Albayrak said: “The Hüseyinli Ready-Mix Concrete Plant, which we have started to set up and will soon begin production, will produce class concrete and special concrete as part of R&D activities. Since we anticipate an increase in the demand for ready-mix concrete in metro projects in the coming period, the Hüseyinli plant will serve as a potential support point. Additionally, since the plant is adjacent to Beykoz and new zoning plans have been made in the area, it will attract interest. With an investment of 18 million 924 thousand TRY, our Hüseyinli plant will have a production capacity of 90 cubic meters per hour, with an annual production capacity of approximately 173,000 cubic meters. We aim to produce 173,000 cubic meters of ready-mix concrete at this plant in 2025.”
A Hub for R&D
Our R&D activities will also continue at this plant. We will produce special concrete, which we will sell for housing projects, factory projects, and public infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, and metro projects. Additionally, by pouring some of the concrete from our Sancaktepe Yenidoğan plant from the northern side of the plant, we will create capacity at the Yenidoğan plant and help capture more market share. Due to its proximity to the North Marmara Highway and the Şile Highway, the Hüseyinli plant will provide transportation advantages to Üsküdar-Ümraniye-Beykoz-Şile districts, and we believe it will capture market share from these areas as well.”
Targeting the Syrian and Ukrainian Markets
According to data from the Revenue Administration, Albayrak Beton ranks 15th among 1,020 companies across Turkey, and is a key supplier of concrete for several important brands and metro projects in the Anatolian side of Istanbul. In this context, Erdal Albayrak stated that they plan to increase their market share both in Istanbul and across Turkey, aiming to boost sales volume by establishing project plants for large-scale projects in Istanbul and Anatolia. Albayrak mentioned that if conditions are met, they plan to enter the construction markets of neighboring countries such as Syria and Ukraine. He said, “With our new plant under construction, we have managed to become the preferred brand in the sector with five ready-mix concrete plants across four different locations.”
According to 2023 data, Erdal Albayrak mentioned that 115 million cubic meters of ready-mix concrete were produced across Turkey, with Albayrak Beton covering approximately 0.7% of that production. He added that the company’s market share in Istanbul is approximately 4.6%, and that ready-mix concrete production in 2023 increased by 18.23% compared to the previous year.
Preparing for an IPO
Meanwhile, Albayrak Beton, one of Turkey's most prominent ready-mix concrete producers and a developer of qualified real estate projects, has applied to the Capital Markets Board (CMB) for an initial public offering (IPO). Along with the CMB application, Albayrak Beton has also applied to Borsa Istanbul (BIST) for the shares to be traded on the stock exchange after the IPO. The IPO is expected to take place in the first half of 2025.
